NCDPI MTSS Definition

NC MTSS is a multi-tiered framework which promotes school improvement through engaging, research-based academic and behavioral practices as well as Social Emotional Learning (SEL). NC MTSS employs a systems approach using data-driven problem-solving to maximize growth for all.

NCDPI MTSS Vision

Every NC Pre K-12 public education system implements and sustains all components of a Multi-Tiered System of Support to ensure college, career, and community readiness for all students.

NCDPI MTSS Mission

NCDPI will prepare and support LEAs to implement a Multi-Tiered System of Support for total school improvement by providing professional development, coaching and technical assistance, research and evaluation, and communication and visibility that results in college, career and community readiness for all students

NCDPI Belief

NCDPI believes that MTSS is the most effective and efficient approach to improving school outcomes and student performance thereby ensuring equitable access to a sound basic education.

    Includes school leadership teams (a shared approach)

  2. Building Capacity/Infrastructure for Implementation
    Master schedule allows for intervention, etc.

  3. Communication and Collaboration
    Do we all work together for student learning?

  4. Data-Driven Problem Solving
    Use the data to make decisions

  5. Three-Tiered Instructional/Intervention Model
    For academics and behavior; layers of support

  6. Data-Evaluation
    Gather all needed data including implementation data
